At P&O, we believe that giving back to the communities where we operate is a fundamental part of our corporate responsibility. We are pleased to announce a donation of 10,000,000 Kyats to the Myanmar Red Cross Society (MRCS) to support critical rescue operations in flood-affected areas across Myanmar.
Typhoon “Ragi” unleashed heavy rainfall and powerful winds, significantly impacting Naypyidaw and numerous other states and regions, including Kayin, Mon, Mandalay, Eastern Shan, Northern Shan, Southern Shan, Kayah, and Bago. Among the hardest-hit areas were townships such as Hpa-An, Mawlamyine, Mandalay, and Lashio, where over 6,500 households were evacuated to temporary shelters. Our contributions are focused on alleviating the hardships faced by these vulnerable communities.
Our donation will provide much-needed assistance, including boats, emergency food packages, and family hygiene kits for those impacted by the recent floods. Specifically, 8,000,000 Kyats has been allocated for the procurement of a boat equipped with an outboard motor to aid in transporting supplies, and 2,000,000 Kyats has been directed toward providing essential food and clean water supplies.
